The plot, although bizarre as it is, is insanely funny, and really, it remains solid from start to finish. Just about all of the jokes hit, and many of them end up hitting hard. SpongeBob prepares the pie for him and Squidward to eat, but ends up tripping over a rock, having the pie explode. He explodes metaphorically, but Squidward keeps ranting on about the pie, which it turns out SpongeBob still has. SpongeBob revealed he made a book of fun activities to do, but Squidward reveals that SpongeBob was supposed to explode. Squidward starts crying, realizing what a good friend he is, but after hearing another explosion, it’s revealed that SpongeBob is still alive, blowing bomb bubbles. Squidward tries again, and before he can finish, he hears an explosion. They proceed to count down for the sunset, but they start early. SpongeBob admits that even if he were to die in a fiery explosion, everything would be okay. An examination reveals that there is a brick wall between SpongeBob and Squidward. Squidward and SpongeBob rest in Jellyfish Fields, watching the sun set. SpongeBob then reveals the final item on his list: watching the sunset with Squidward. Afterwards, they tell knock-knock jokes, act like apes, walk in reverse, and perform open heart surgery. First he shows Squidward to everyone in town, and then again in a salmon suit. SpongeBob reveals he has a list, and starts his bizarre activities with Squidward. SpongeBob, excited to hear there’s a part 2 of Squidward’s gift, learns that Squidward is going to help him spend the best day of his life. Krabs tells Squidward that SpongeBob may be gone by sundown, so Squidward decides he’ll give SpongeBob the best last day of his life. However, when he trips with a piece of the pie, it explodes, and when they see SpongeBob took the pie, Mr. Krabs, just to be safe, tries to take a bite. When Squidward tells them he was about to buy one, they then change their minds, and tell him they actually are pies. However, one of them points out that they are actually bombs, made in a bomb factory. Squidward looks outside, and sees a bunch of pirates with pies. Krabs then requests Squidward get a gift for SpongeBob. SpongeBob gives Squidward a gift, a sweater made of eyelashes, but when Squidward rejects it, SpongeBob becomes disheartened, and makes a sweater out of tears. Krabs tell him it’s Employee Brotherhood Day. Squidward walks to work, greeted by SpongeBob, only to hear Mr. He is then, however, woken up by SpongeBob, who reminds him of his job. The episode begins with Squidward dreaming of being on an island, playing piano.
